Money-saving tips for Norwich elderly
Elderly people can discover how to make their money count in these tough financial times when a free drop-in session takes place in Norwich.Expert knowledge will be on hand from a number of organisations to offer advice to older people about how to keep safe and well this winter during these tough times.
The event has been organised by Norwich City Council as part of its ongoing campaign Bite back at the crunch campaign and people will be able to get advice on issues such as:
Staying healthy and safe on a budget
Reducing fuel costs
Rent and council tax benefits
udgeting around the home.
The event will take place at Blackfriars Hall from 10am until 3pm on Monday October 19.
Brenda Arthur, executive member for housing and adult services at Norwich City Council, said: “A lot of people in the city are feeling the pinch at the moment and these events have really made a difference over the summer.
“Hundreds of households across the city are now receiving the right benefits as a result of these events, putting more money in to people’s pockets in these tough times.
“This special event for older people living in the city will help to provide expert help and advice on keeping safe and well through the winter.
“It’s so good that so many organisations are coming together to provide free advice that people really need right now. I really would encourage people to come along. We keep getting a great response from people who have been to these events.”
Groups attending include Age Concern Norwich, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, Norfolk Constabulary, Energy Saving Trust, Norfolk County Council trading standards team, Norfolk PACT, and Norfolk and Waveney NHS Mental Health Trust.
